ATTRACTION is the brainchild of William Eston and Magic Smile Productions, designed to conjure a sound magic effect with a bell and some nifty card tricks that’ll make you look like a wizard (or at least a very charming trickster).
Some of these tricks are so interactive that your spectators will be the ones pulling off the magic—talk about crowd involvement! Here's a cheeky breakdown of what you can perform:
The Bell: A spectator picks a card (and signs it, because we all love a bit of ownership) and loses it in the deck. You then slice the deck into three piles and use the bell to find the chosen card. Shake the bell over the first pile, and it rings. Do the same for the second pile, and lo and behold, another ring! But wait, the last pile is a proper joker—it doesn’t ring! After shaking the bell over the other two packs again, the spectator turns over the card from the silent pile, and voila! It’s the chosen card! (And yes, the spectator can have a go at ringing the bell too.)
Spectator's cut: A card is chosen, lost in the deck, and then the spectator gets to cut the cards and hold the pile. They turn over the card they cut to, and surprise, it’s the chosen one! (No pressure, mate.)
Flick: A card is chosen and lost, and you explain you’ll find it using just one finger. You give the deck a flick, and one pack flips up to reveal the spectator's card. (If they want to try flicking it themselves, let them—it’s all about participation!)
Cards in bag: Two or more cards are picked and lost. After a bit of shuffling (you and the spectators can have a crack at this), toss the deck into a bag. The spectator gives it a good shake, and then you reach in (eyes closed, of course) to pull out the chosen cards one by one! (Who’s the magician now?!)
Rising card: A card is chosen and lost, and the deck returned to its case. The spectator holds the case by the tab, giving it a bit of movement, and, ta-da, a card rises above the rest. It's the chosen one, ready for inspection! (No funny business here.)
Card to wallet: First, a card is chosen and lost, then another one is placed face down on the table. You whip out your wallet, which has a prediction card inside, and place it next to the chosen card. Both are flipped to reveal they’re identical. (Dun dun dunnn!) You then spread the deck to show that the first card has mysteriously vanished, only to pop up in your wallet. Poof!
Levitate: You take the four Aces out for an inspection before placing them face down on the deck. After ensuring there are no sticky fingers about, you place two fingers on the deck, and the Aces begin to levitate above the rest! (Yes, they’ll be examined after—because who doesn’t love a good inspection?)
