WATCH AS A SPECTATOR'S CHOSEN CARD MIRACULOUSLY APPEARS ON A BLANK DECK!
No extra cards! No sticky stuff or roughing stuff! No fiddly gaffs! Seriously!Brainstormer: Picture this – you whip out a deck from its case and spread it out to reveal a collection of blank cards, both front and back! This is what cards look like before they get the fancy printing treatment.
The performer explains that he’s organised the deck so all the red cards are together and all the black ones are too (because why not?). Splitting the deck, he ribbons one half on the table, claiming it’s all the red cards, while the other half, casually spread near himself, contains the black cards.
Then, he hands the spectator their cards, confidently stating that despite their blankness, they should still be able to pick out any red card they fancy, even if they can’t see any faces (the audacity!).
To demonstrate, the spectator names a red card, let’s say the 4D. The performer spreads out the spectator’s cards, inviting them to touch one. They do, and he flips it over, claiming it’s the 4D – still looking blank, mind you!
Now, it’s the magician’s turn. He names a black card, say the 8S, and extracts one of his own blanks. Flipping it over, he boldly claims it’s also the 8S! (Sceptical looks all around, I imagine.)
To ease their disbelief, he picks up the spectator’s 4D and places it face up on top of his pile, cutting it into the centre. He does the same with his 8S, cutting it face up into the spectator’s pile.
He then declares:
"Because we’ve swapped cards, my 8S is now the lone black card among your red ones. And in my collection of black cards, your 4D is the only red one. Therefore, our two cards are the odd ones out, and they’ll stand out so much we’ll actually be able to see them."With a cheeky snap of his fingers, the performer ribbons the spectator’s pile to reveal a card face printing itself right there – it’s the 8S! And, lo and behold, in his own half, there’s the 4D, looking rather pleased with itself!
