Luca Volpe Productions and Alan Wong have teamed up to bring you Birthday Traveller, inspired by Florian Severin's "Verdoux Voodoo" and the genius of Al Bertini. This nifty little contraption is your ticket to delivering a routine that’s as entertaining as it is engaging—perfect for any audience, whether they’re glued to their seats or gasping in disbelief. It works brilliantly as an opener or can slide right into a confabulation routine. And yes, it’s visible enough to dazzle the folks in the back row!
Picture this:
You hand a bright red envelope to an audience member, instructing them to pass it around like a hot potato until someone shouts ‘stop’. That lucky spectator then joins you on stage. You whip out a folder boasting 31 beautifully crafted destinations and ask them to share their birthday. Why? To find out their "birthday destination", of course!
Once they’ve revealed their number, you unveil the chosen destination, which, in a delightful twist of fate, matches the one in the spectator's envelope! The set is ready to roll right out of the box and includes a classy forcing ring binder, stunning custom-designed watercolour cards, a vibrant red envelope with the final prediction, and the online instructions you’ll need to get started.
Credits and other released versions:
The forcing tool has also made its rounds in Florian Severin's "Verdoux Voodoo" from "What Lies Inside", published by Vanishing Inc Magic, as well as the French edition "Ultra Mental" from C.C. Éditions and the Japanese edition "Seltsame Abenteuer des Darian Wolf" released by Hiroyuki Okada—previously known as "Verliebt, Verlobt and Abgezockt" from the original German release "Thirteen Steps to Vandalism", all thanks to Al Bertini’s brilliant idea published in "Magische Studien 4" by Peter Wilker in 1991.
Anthony Lindan concocted a similar method back in the late 80s called the See Through Switch, which graced the pages of Steve Beam's Trap Door magazine and popped up in his 20 questions routine with my See Through Switch, released with Penguin Magic.
It’s straightforward to perform and packs a punch in both stage and parlour settings! Plus, it’s all about audience participation! Another fantastic offering crafted by professionals for those who take their craft seriously!
