Routine 1:
Have the spectator pick a card, then lose it in the deck. You confidently declare that the card will go up in smoke... as you prepare to do the classic card throw, instead of a card flying out, there’s an explosion. The card is “blown up” in a spectacular fashion—open the deck card by card to reveal that the spectator's card is now singed! A cracking souvenir!
Effect 2:
Same scenario, but let the spectator imagine they’ve got a gun. You’ll make the card “jump”, and they’ll need to take aim and fire at it with their imaginary weapon. Cue the laughter and gasps as you reveal the card has actually been hit—right through the deck!
Also, feel free to incorporate it into a manipulation effect where you produce cards, with the last one creating a flash out of thin air. The only limit is your imagination (and perhaps your neighbours’ patience).
