Effect:

Phase 1: Color Separation.

The magician commits to memory the positions of all black cards facing up while the red cards are facing down. After a spectator gives the deck of 16 cards a shuffle (you can use more or even a borrowed deck if you're feeling generous), they have the freedom to turn cards face up or down, with no peeking from you. Once that’s done, you cover the cards with a handkerchief. Moments later, you reveal that you’ve sorted the black and red cards purely from memory. Surprise! All black cards are still face up, and the reds are face down.

Phase 2: Even & Odd.

Next, you separate the even and odd cards, adding another layer of complexity that keeps your audience guessing.

Phase 3: Picture - Number.

Now it’s time to separate the number cards from the court cards, showing off your skills in categorization.

Phase 4: No Errors.

Here’s where it gets cheeky: you place an extra card face down and again separate the cards into red and black. But wait! There's a “mistake” with a black card sneaking in between the reds. The kicker? You knew this would happen because the card on the table matches the value and suit of that sneaky black card.

Phase 5: Royal Flux.

In poker, a royal flush is a rare gem. Here, the only face-up cards in the deck are the 10, J, Q, K, and Ace of spades. Talk about a winning hand!

Phase 6: 4 Of A Kind.

You’re not done yet! Four Queens emerge as the only face-up cards in the deck, serving up another delightful poker reference.

Phase 7: Same - Same.

To wrap it all up, you reveal that the same number of red and black cards have been turned face up, leaving your audience in awe.

No marked cards, and you can use a borrowed deck. What’s not to love?

Oh, and by the way, this effect got a nod in Genii magazine - October 2019 issue. So, if you want to impress your fellow magicians and add a solid routine to your repertoire, download the video and get started now!
