Picture this: you’re at a mate’s house, having a good chinwag, and you casually mention that you’ve been fine-tuning a rather nifty telekinesis trick. And just like that, you launch into Teleshock!

You start by asking your host to flick on the telly and tune into any random channel. You then suggest that their seemingly “random choice” might not be so random after all. Let’s say they land on channel 31, which just happens to be “Animal Planet.” Now, you ask them (or someone else in the room) to think of a different channel, but this time, make it a conscious choice—no pressure! They keep it under wraps, and when they give you the nod, you turn off the television (still on good old channel 31, mind you).

But wait, it gets better! You ask them to unplug the TV from the wall (assuming they don’t mind, of course). You explain that this little step is crucial for keeping things fair and scientific—because who wants a dodgy setup, right? Once the TV is unplugged, you begin your “mind reading” performance to discern the channel they’re thinking of!

Keep these things in mind:

  • Your hands are on full display the whole time (no sneaky devices here, mate!)
  • Your spectator holds the TV remote—the only remote involved, so no funny business!
  • As mentioned, the TV is not just off but unplugged, and it was your spectator who did the unplugging! Remember, it was tuned to a specific channel before it went off.
With your hands in plain sight, you ask for the telly to be plugged back in. As you start to focus on a “scene” in your mind, you casually mention that this scene is somehow linked to the channel your spectator has been mulling over. Finally, you ask what channel they’ve been thinking of and drop the bombshell that you can also change channels with just your mind! As you concentrate, you ask them to switch the telly back on for the first time since it was unplugged. And lo and behold, it’s tuned to the exact channel they were thinking of, with the scene you described playing out right before their eyes!
  • Teleshock requires zero setup... no gimmicks... no stooges... in fact, it’s completely impromptu, which is a nice touch.
  • There’s no duplicate remote nonsense with Teleshock.
  • And yes, it’s entirely self-working—no need for a PhD in magic!
The method involves three parts, two of which are classic mentalism techniques. Nefesch throws in four methods to handle all the known cases and models, just to keep things spicy.
