Gimmick It Yourself 2 is... you guessed it, the much-anticipated sequel to the original Gimmick It Yourself project!

After the first project went down a storm (seriously, the reviews were glowing), I thought, why not keep the magic rolling? In these projects, I reveal how to whip up DIY gimmicks that I've actually used for various performances—be it casual, professional, or even online gigs (yes, magic can be done in your PJs).

Gimmick It Yourself 2 teaches you how to construct 4 nifty gimmicks that have jazzed up my performances over the years, creating those delightful, eye-popping moments that are perfect for social media and beyond. In the tutorial, I’ll give you a quick lowdown on each gimmick, guide you through making them, and share a treasure trove of routines and ideas to get you performing right away.

This project is inspired by the multi-trick releases that were all the rage when I first dipped my toes into magic. The goal? To pack in more routines, ideas, and inspiration than you'd get from a single release. Simple as that!

Here's the scoop on the gimmicks:

EVO

The EVO gimmick is your new best mate—versatile, practical, and perfect for crafting those ultra-visual moments that will have your audience scratching their heads (and possibly laughing). It’s a brilliant asset for social media stunts, but don’t worry, it works a treat in the real world too.

With the EVO gimmick, you can perform a range of effects, from a coin vanish in mid-air to a sneaky card-to-pocket move. The best part? You don't need a magnetic item to pull this off (though you can use one if you fancy).

The tutorial spills the beans on how to switch items visually and deceptively, make things vanish, restore objects, and even push practically anything through a glass table. Plus, if you're familiar with PK rings, you’ll find the EVO gimmick is your new go-to. Oh, and did I mention it’s practically silent? No more awkward “CLUNK” when you vanish stuff!

UTILIGHT

Utilight is a gem for performing an ultra-clean coin vanish without any sleight of hand (yes, it’s magic for the lazy—who doesn’t love that?). Think of it as the Scotch and Soda gimmick, but without the need for two coins!

Alongside some incredibly easy vanishes, the tutorial guides you on how to use Utilight for a seamless switcheroo, turning regular coins into other items right before your audience's eyes. This technique is a perfect fit for routines like a coin bend or even secretly swapping in gimmicked coins (hello, coin bite!).

And let’s not forget the super simple coin-in-sugar-packet routine that’s a crowd-pleaser for both casual and professional settings—I'll show you how to seal that coin in the packet like a pro!

PHONEY

Phoney is a clever gimmick that gives a fresh twist to the classic bottle-through-table illusion. Since we’re all glued to our phones these days, Phoney makes it easy to perform this memorable close-up illusion without waiting for a posh dinner event.

In addition to the classic 'through table' routine, you’ll learn to vanish the phone and make it reappear inside a sealed Pringles can (just make sure your phone fits—no one wants a phone wedged in there!). You’ll also get a super quick, cheap, and easy alternative gimmick idea called Foney Phoney, which you can whip up in no time to start playing around with the concept immediately.

REAL WORKER

The real worker is a straightforward pull-based gimmick that shines in any scenario. You'll be able to vanish and retrieve any banknote with ease—no plastic appendages required! It's simple, budget-friendly, and packed with possibilities. I’ll share routines like the signed bill in spectator's wallet, signed bill in orange, and the cheeky signed bill in Sharpie—Sharp Money.

The tuition video stretches over 2 hours, brimming with my favourite ideas and routines using these gimmicks. Just like the first Gimmick It Yourself project, all these gimmicks and ideas can easily complement or enhance the routines you’re already performing.
